The idea behind Suisqua began when our founder, Eitan, returned from a week-long combat mission in the Middle East to find his aquarium in chaos, describing it as if a “tornado ran through my tank.” Realizing there had to be a better way to care for aquariums while away, he began sketching ideas for a low-maintenance automated tank. After completing his service and enrolling at the University of Miami, Eitan met Levi, a Marine Affairs student who shared his passion for aquariums and had already experimented with automating parts of his own systems.

 

Combining Eitan’s business background with Levi’s deep knowledge of freshwater and saltwater aquariums, they built their first functional prototype. That prototype helped them win the USTAAR pitch competition in March 2026 and secure funding to continue development. Since then, Suisqua has grown into a larger team working to bring its first automated, low-maintenance aquariums to market in December 2026 or January 2027.
